1. Introduction
Welcome to CheckPlaylistLength.com ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in how our web tools function. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use our website, how that information is handled, and your rights concerning your data.
By accessing or using CheckPlaylistLength.com, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy and the terms referenced herein.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike many web applications, our service is designed to function without collecting personally identifiable information (PII). Specifically:
- We do not require user registration, usernames, or passwords.
- We do not collect names, home addresses, or phone numbers.
- We do not collect credit card numbers or financial payment data.
- We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information to data brokers or third parties.
3. Information We Process
To deliver accurate playlist length calculations, the following technical data is processed:
A. YouTube Playlist & Video URLs
When you enter a YouTube playlist or video URL/ID, that input is transmitted to our server-side endpoint on Cloudflare Workers. Our server strictly queries the official YouTube Data API v3 on your behalf to obtain public video durations, titles, and thumbnails.
Calculated public metadata may be temporarily cached in our server memory and Cloudflare edge cache (typically between 1 to 6 hours) solely to improve response speeds and conserve API quota. We never associate your IP address with permanent database records of the links you calculate.
B. Standard Server Logs & Abuse Prevention
Our Cloudflare hosting infrastructure automatically processes standard server connection logs for operational stability, per-IP rate limiting (30 requests/minute to prevent DDoS attacks), and network defense. These logs may include your IP address, browser user agent, referring URL, timestamp of request, and HTTP response code. These operational logs are managed securely by Cloudflare and are routinely purged.
4. Client-Side Browser Storage (localStorage)
CheckPlaylistLength.com utilizes your browser's native localStorage to deliver convenient user features without transmitting your activity to our servers:
- Recent Search History: Keeps track of up to 10 recently calculated playlists so you can re-open them quickly.
- Watch Checklist Progress: Records which videos you have marked as watched so you can resume where you left off.
- Theme Preference: Remembers your chosen Dark Mode or Light Mode setting.
All data stored in localStorage resides solely on your physical device and is never sent to our servers. You can clear this data at any time via your browser's site data settings.
5. YouTube API Services & Third Parties
CheckPlaylistLength.com relies on YouTube API Services to provide playlist durations, channel details, and video metadata.
By using CheckPlaylistLength.com, users agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and acknowledge that data processing by Google is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Our tool only retrieves public and unlisted metadata from YouTube. We do not access, request, or store private YouTube Google accounts, private playlists, or personal YouTube watch histories. If you have granted authorized Google access to any connected application in the past, you can view and revoke third-party permissions at any time via the Google Security Settings Permissions page.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
CheckPlaylistLength.com operates with zero advertising tracking cookies and zero behavioral profiling scripts. Our website only sets essential technical session headers required for secure content delivery and CDN caching.
7. Data Security
All communications between your web browser and CheckPlaylistLength.com are encrypted using standard Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) with modern Transport Layer Security (TLS). While no transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, we follow rigorous security standards to prevent unauthorized access.
8. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Our website is a general audience educational utility and does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
9. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Under privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what data is collected and the right to delete your data. Because we do not store personal profiles, clearing your browser cache and localStorage immediately deletes all local data associated with our tool.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our tool or changes in legal regulations. When changes are made, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
